Salem Firefighters Save A Life On A Flight Headed South

SALEM, Ore–  Salem Fire Department is incredibly proud of our Firefighter Paramedics; today, while three of our members were on a flight from Portland to San Diego, a medical emergency occurred on their flight. Firefighter/Paramedic TJ Greenhill, Engineer/Paramedic Nick Bradley and Captain Willy Giddings jumped into action, assessing the 74-year-old and identifying a need for CPR. While one member conducted CPR, the others set up an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and additional medical equipment. After two minutes of CPR, the patient started moving, the color came back, and she started mumbling. The three continued to monitor and assist the patient until they transferred care to Falck Ambulance Services in San Diego.

Another example of why our crews are top-notch! Great job to these three, and we hope they enjoy their much-deserved vacation!
