VANCOUVER, Wa.– A community vigil will be held to remember Meshay Melendez and Layla Stewart, a mother and daughter who were found dead of suspected domestic violence. Their bodies were found near Washougal Wednesday. The pair went missing earlier this month. The medical examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
The vigil will be held on Sunday, March 26, from 11 a.m. at Esther Short Park.
The National Women’s Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation (NWCAVE) and YWCA Clark County are organizing the vigil with the family of Meshay and Layla.
National Women’s Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation (NWCAVE) and YWCA Clark County in conjunction with the family of Meshay and Layla, hope you will join for a moment of remembrance and to bring awareness to the impacts of domestic violence on our community.
Meshay’s favorite color was red, and Layla’s was pink. We ask you to wear these colors to the vigil to further honor their memories.
