Sudden Illness Takes The Life Of A Clackamas Sheriff’s Detective

HAPPY VALLEY, Ore.– From the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office__

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of one of our own. Detective Jeff Burlew passed away early today after battling a sudden illness. Memorial service information will be shared when it is available.
Detective Burlew joined the Sheriff’s Office in 1995 as a patrol deputy. Prior to his promotion to detective in 2006, he was a Field Training Officer and was a member of the Case Management Team. As a detective, he served as a member of the Child Abuse Team, Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit, and the Inter-agency Child Exploitation Prevention Team. Detective Burlew excelled as a detective and was assigned many complex and high-profile investigations. As one of the lead detectives for the 2012 Clackamas Town Center shooting, Detective Burlew was able to share his experience to train many other law enforcement agencies around the region to help them better prepare to respond to events such as these.
We will always remember Detective Burlew for his exceptional work ethic and unwavering commitment and reliability, however these professional achievements pale in comparison to the really good human he was. Detective Burlew will be sorely missed and leaves behind a void that will be difficult to fill for his family and ours.
