
OREGON CITY, Or.– After weeks of public scrutiny Clackamas County Commissioner Melissa Fireside resigned today. Fireside has been accused of ID Theft,Elder abuse and forgery. Earlier this week she pleaded not guilty . Clackamas County Chair Craig Roberts contacted Fireside Thursday and asked her to resign without delay.
In part of a statement by Clackamas County Chair Craig Roberts he said, “I recognize that for many, this decision is not soon enough, and i know how difficult and upsetting the situation has been for the community. I want to thank you for making your voices heard. The board remains committed to fulfilling our responsibilities to you and ensuring the business of Clackamas County continues to move forward.”
The county administrator has begun the search process for a new commissioner with a website that outlines the process. Roberts added, ” The community will remain informed throughout the process, as public involvement is crucial.”
Melissa Fireside replaced previous Commissioner Mark Shull. She won by 51% in the November 2024 election. Fireside’s next court appearance is April 28th.
